After his studies at Brevard College and the University of North Carolina, Cunningham resided in Europe for the better part of a year. Based in Lausanne, he spent his time cultivating an appreciation not only for art, but for the cultures and circumstances that inspire it.

about the work

Cunningham is a people person. Even when his subject matter isn't human, he tries to interject some aspect of humanity in his work. For example, he'll explore relationships between trees as if they were people. A forest may become a dance, a party, or a street scene.
